A 92-year-old resident at Banning Healthcare has died after his roommate allegedly assaulted him, the Banning Police Department announced Monday. The victim, Attilio Cecchetto of Banning, died at approximately 12:15 a.m. Saturday at a local hospital, police said. Cechetto was a resident at the skilled nursing facility when he was assaulted shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday, May 8, according to police. Cechetto’s 76-year-old roommate, Sam Ato Timaloa, is the sole suspect in the assault. He was arrested by Banning police following an investigation into the incident.
