The Attorney General’s Office announced that Katrina LaFoe, 44, of Barton, Vermont, was sentenced for misdemeanor false pretenses resulting from her role in the submission of false timesheets for payments from Vermont Medicaid. The criminal case brought against the defendant is the result of an investigation by the Medicaid Fraud and Residential Abuse Unit (MFRAU) of the Vermont Attorney General’s Office and the US Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Inspector General. On January 23, 2025, Ms. LaFoe pleaded guilty, and the Court, Judge Rory Thibault presiding, sentenced Ms. LaFoe to a prison sentence of two to four months, all suspended with a three-year term of probation as a result of her prompt acceptance of responsibility. As part of her probation, Ms. LaFoe must pay restitution in the amount of $18,485 and may not assume any role in which she directs Medicaid funds.
