Conviction of New Hampshire Woman for Theft and Medicaid Fraud

Attorney General John M. Formella announced that a Merrimack County jury has found Fawn Gobis, 60, of Manchester, guilty of one felony count of Theft by Deception and two felony counts of Medicaid Fraud following a five-day jury trial. Ms. Gobis was charged with stealing more than $10,000.00 in Medicaid funds by falsely representing that her son, Cody Gobis, was providing care to a disabled Medicaid member between December 2020 and February 2022. In reality, Cody Gobis resided in Colorado and did not provide the care. Ms. Gobis effectuated the fraud by forging and submitting more than 30 false timesheets indicating that Cody Gobis was providing care. In reliance on those false documents, a Manchester Medicaid area agency submitted Medicaid claims and funds in excess of $10,000.00 were issued by the area agency. Ms. Gobis provided further forged documentation so that the funds would be deposited into accounts that she owned.
