California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced the sentencing of a former Sutter Roseville nursing assistant for stealing credit cards and cash from multiple patients at Sutter Roseville Medical Center. Between November and December 2022, Shekira Thompson stole cash and credit cards from three elderly patients under her care. She charged over two thousand dollars on the credit cards at several locations such as a wig store, nail salon, and the mall. Thompson was charged with two felony counts of theft from an elder or dependent adult, one misdemeanor count of theft from an elder or dependent adult, and one count of felony identity theft. Thompson entered a plea of guilty to all charges and admitted to all aggravating factors set forth in the criminal complaint. Thompson was sentenced to serve 200 days in jail, placed on formal probation for two years, ordered to pay restitution to the victims, and was prohibited from working as a caregiver in a facility whose primary purpose is to care for elders or dependent persons.
