SC Woman Charged with $10K Theft from Nursing Home Resident

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced that his office’s Vulnerable Adults and Medicaid Provider Fraud unit (VAMPF) has arrested Shanna V. Brown, 43 years old, of Camden, SC, for Exploitation of a Vulnerable Adult and Breach of Trust with Fraudulent Intent, value $10,000 or more. Brown was booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on May 5, 2025. A VAMPF investigation found that between May 19, 2023, and October 21, 2024, Brown allegedly misused the funds and assets of a vulnerable adult with fraudulent intent. As the victim’s power of attorney, Brown is accused of unlawfully converting over $10,000 of the victim’s assets for her own personal use. The victim, a vulnerable adult under South Carolina law, resided at White Oak Manor in Columbia, SC, at the time of the alleged misconduct. White Oak Manor referred this case to VAMPF and cooperated fully with investigators.
