An investigation by special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Medicaid Fraud Control Division has resulted in the arrest of a Memphis woman accused of abusing a vulnerable adult in her care. On September 3rd, after receiving a referral from Adult Protective Services, TBI agents began investigating allegations against Shanda Michele Jackson, who was working as a caregiver at the time of the alleged incident. During the course of the investigation, TBI agents determined that Jackson had been involved in a physical altercation with a TennCare recipient for whom she was being paid to provide in-home care services. On September 9th, after obtaining a search warrant, TBI agents, with the assistance from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, took Jackson into custody, charging her with Abuse of a Vulnerable Adult. She was booked into the Shelby County Jail and released on a $5,000 bond.
